Let us look to the Scripture as we call our next pastor.
In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred and twenty) and said,
“Brothers and sisters, the Scripture had to be fulfilled in which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus. He was one of our number and shared in our ministry.”
(With the payment he received for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out. Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so they called that field in their language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)
“For,” said Peter, “it is written in the Book of Psalms:
‘May his place be deserted;
let there be no one to dwell in it,’
and,
‘May another take his place of leadership.’
Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus was living among us, beginning from John’s baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection.”
So they nominated two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias. Then they prayed, “Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs.” Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.

Nomination forms for a possible candidate to fill our vacancy are on a table at the back of the church. This is an opportunity for our members to recommend a possible candidate from the field to fill the vacant position of pastor in our congregation.
After you have completed the form, please sign it, and place the form in the box at the back of the church. The form can also be given to a member of our call committee.
It is our church’s turn to deliver “Peace Meals” the month of September. A calendar is posted on the bulletin board outside of Joy’s office. If you could assist in this ministry even just one day, it would be greatly appreciated.
Blake and Jenna Beitz along with their infant son want to thank all those donated to the basket for Tucker. Your generosity was so very much appreciated.
Back to School Prayer Night took place on August 29. Thirty-seven people, including members of St Paul and their friends, enjoyed a pizza meal, then prayed for students, teachers, staff, schools, families, and others. Thank you to everyone who attended and prayed, shared information about the event with others, provided desserts, helped with the set-up and clean up, or supported the event in other ways.
Looking forward to resuming Book Club! We will be meeting Thursday September 8th at 6:30 at St Paul’s and discuss Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens.
Ask a reading buddy to join us.
I would like to fill a back pack with school supplies to donate to school from our group, so please bring in something to fill our bag. Teachers are given a limited budget for supplies so they can use a little extra help. Suggestions - construction paper, card stock, pencils, crayons etc.
Hope to see everyone!
Elizabeth
